Unrefined, virgin coconut oil is one of the healthiest habits you can adopt whether it’s ingesting it or applying it to your skin. With it’s extreme healing powers, I have added coconut oil in many of my personal recipes! In this post, I’m sharing my top 15 coconut oil recipes for skin that you’ll want to make ASAP!
I’ve been on a huge coconut oil kick lately! Coconut oil was all the rage about 5-8 years ago . Remember that meme where that little boy with a mean look on his face was holding up his fist to the camera with the caption, “My mom’s got 99 problems and coconut oil solved 86 of them”? So funny but yet still pretty true. Coconut oil, while not as popular as it was, is still a very valid tool to improve overall health.
I was doing some maintenance on my blog and realized that some of my most effective, most popular and most personally used DIYs contain coconut oil as a base and I wanted to round them up for you today!
Why do I use coconut oil in so many of my DIYs? The biggest reason is because it is so healing. On top of that-it is anti fungal and antibacterial which is so beneficial in many of these DIYs. Plus, if you choose a high quality oil, it is very high in antioxidants which we all know are beneficial when it comes to aging. Read more about the benefits of coconut oil HERE.
Organic Deodorant
If I don’t have this solid deodorant on hand, I typically don’t use deodorant. I love this deodorant recipe because it’s so healthy and it works! It’s easy to make, doesn’t sting and is 500x safer to apply under your arms then normal deodorants.

Beeswax Coconut Lotion
My beeswax coconut lotion recipe incorporates aloe, coconut oil and beeswax to make a beautiful lotion. Because I used beeswax to emulsify, it is a harder consistency but none the less creamy.
Bug Bite Balm
I end up using this creamy bug bite balm for itch relief more than anything. It’s got a great texture and because it contains just the right essential oils, it really does calm the skin and reduce the inflammatory, histamine response. In this post I also suggest putting the balm in a lip balm tube for on the go relief.

A homemade lip scrub might seem a bit high maintenance but if you try this recipe, you’ll understand why it’s necessary. Diaper Rash Cream
When I first started this blog, one of my daughters was still in diapers. She would get the worst diaper rash. I knew that Desitin wasn’t the answer so I quickly concocted my own. Since then I have approved upon that first creation and just recently came out with my new chamomile infused coconut lavender diaper rash cream with clay recipe. It contains coconut oil for healing but it also contains clay for keeping little booties dry.
Which Brand Has the Most Effective Coconut Oil?
The best brand of coconut oil is Healthy Traditions. They are truly a HUGE cut above the rest. They wet-mill and hand make their coconut oil in order to retain the highest possible amount of antioxidants. They also do NOT mass produce their coconut oil. It is made by families who are coconut farmers using old-fashioned traditional methods that have been used in the Philippines for hundreds of years. The families who produce the oil are also trained according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards and re-certified each year. Plus, they test for the deadly herbicide, glycophate. Find their coconut oil HERE.
