DIY Anthropologie Diffuser Blend Recipe

Sharing is caring!

Anthropologie has a signature scent. It’s heavenly and it comes in a candle and diffuser oil. However, it isn’t natural so I’ve been on a mission to see if I could duplicate the scent using essential oils and making a DIY Anthropologie diffuser blend that we can all feel good about diffusing in our home. The unique scent is citrusy and sweet and evokes thoughts of summer on the Italian Riviera sipping a limoncello. It’s an uplifting, happy scent and turns out, you just need 4 essential oils to recreate it!

If you’ve ever been to Anthropologie you are probably familiar the Capri Blue Volcano candles that are burning around every corner. It’s a rather pricey candle that’s gained a cult following and that contains synthetic fragrances.

Not long ago I made homemade wax melts and bought the Blue Volcano diffuser oil so I could strongly scent the cubes. I love the scent and wanted to see if I could create a healthy version of the real deal. I have been working on this blend for many months trying to get it as close to the original as possible using essential oils.

There are many Anthro diffuser blends online and I think I may have tried them all. While my Anthropologie diffuser blend isn’t exact, it’s pretty close and I love that it makes my home smell so good without the harmful fragrances. It can be used in a DIY room spray!

Instead of just posting an essential oil diffuser blend recipe for one time use, I am also including a diffuser bomb recipe so you can make a 1/2 ounce (15ml) and be able to use it over and over. Since you only need 5-10 drops of oil each time you diffuse, the bomb will give you quite a bit more for future use.

Diffusing essential oils is a natural way to make your house smell amazing. Spraying air fresheners and burning candles can be hazardous to your health and compromise your immune system, screw up your hormones and activate allergies. Capri candles are no exception even though they are marketed in a way that might make you think they are healthier. I can attest that that strong scent contains an unknown concoction of synthetic fragrance.

Essential Oils Used In The Anthropologie Blend

Most of the anthro diffuser blend recipes I tried were from Young Living users. I found recipes for this blend that were all completely different so it was a task to narrow down exactly what the original scent contains. According to the Capri Blue website, the Volcano candle is an energizing blend of exotic citrus and sugary notes. The scent is described as an “enchanting and tropical scent”.

Typically the anthro blend consists of grapefruit, sweet orange or tangerine, black spruce or idaho blue spruce and geranium. Variations and optional add-ins include lime, Valor blend, cypress, lemon and bergamot! There’s no wonder it’s taken so long to land on the best version of this blend!

What I learned from all my experimenting is that grapefruit essential oil is the main scent and a non negotiable. It is the prominent scent you smell the most of. The other citrus scents underneath can be substituted as long as grapefruit is the heaviest scent.

More Uses for DIY Anthro Blend Oil:

Once you make this Anthropologie Diffuser Blend bomb you can use it for many other purposes than just diffusing! Try adding a few drops of oil to your warm bath water! It makes a lovely bath oil! You can also add it to reed diffuser sticks. This scent can be added to any bath bomb recipe as well. Adding a few drops into your shower gel is another fun way to enjoy the blend! Try making a cup of fragrant bath salts using this blend to give as homemade gifts! I love to add liquid castile soap and about 10 drops of this blend to a foaming pump bottle for an expensive smelling hand soap! Use it in your soap base when making bars of soap. This time of year I like to add it to baking soda and sprinkle mixture all over my rugs to remove odors. You won’t believe how much scent this leaves! This scent makes a lovely roll on perfume as well!

I don’t recommend making candles with essential oils. Essential oils are best diffused when it comes to dispersing a stronger aroma around your home. Essential oils tend to get lost in soy wax and paraffin wax candles. It will take a LOT OF DROPS of essential oils to get even a small amount of scent when added to homemade candles.

Remember, it only takes just a few drops of essential oils in a diffuser to really fill a room with scent.

These anthro candles have the best scent. I will say it is impossible to recreate it exactly but my recipe is close and the best part is my entire family can enjoy a lovely, fresh scent without the nasties that rob the air quality when burning fragrance filled candles. I think you’re going to love it!

I’m always working on new diffuser blends so comment if you have one you’d like me to work on! Young Living’s Stress Away is next and it just might be my favorite!
