Peace and Calming Essential Oil Blend Recipe

Sharing is caring!

Anxiety, winter blues, feeling overwhelmed and depression are common issues many of us experience or have experienced at some point in life. Many believe in the calming effect essential oils can have on the body and mind and the essential oil blend Peace & Calming was formulated as a tool to naturally calm the nervous system, ease the mental load and assist us through times of anxiety. Young Living’s Peace and Calming is a bright blend of several easy to find pure essential oils. I’m on a kick of making my own Young Living blends and my list would be incomplete if I didn’t share a recipe for this must have blend. Read on for my Peace and Calming recipe!

I typically default to lavender essential oil for everything from calming nervousness to skincare to using it as an additive in my homemade cleaning products. However, I do love that there are other oils better suited for the anxiety that is ever present in most everyone’s daily lives.

My Essential Oil Journey:

With all my other Young Living blend recipes, I like to give you a bit of my essential oil background. In case you’ve missed it let me make my long history with essential oils short. When my daughter was about 6 months old (she’s now 16), a close friend introduced me to Young Living. Having had a home birth and opting out of any medical intervention for my daughter and I, essential oils were very appealing to me. My friend and I went to several YL classes and I learned about the magical power of essential oils. The issue was that I didn’t enjoy Young Living. Back then their weren’t many other essential oil alternatives and in an attempt to make essential oils more affordable I signed up to get a discounted price but as you probably know, in order to get a discount you are roped into spending a certain amount monthly. I ended up with so many oils I didn’t really want or need and spent a small fortune. Fast forward a few years and I found other, more affordable essential oil companies and did not have to sacrifice quality. During my YL days I came to love blends like Thieves, Purification, Valor and Peace and Calming. So here we are, 16 years later enjoying the powerful benefits of essential oils at reasonable prices and recreating the beloved blends of YL at a much nicer price tag.

Peace and Calming was a favorite of mine during my YL time because it really does just what the name says. Having a baby under 1 year who didn’t sleep very well made me a frazzled mess. Diffusing Peace and Calming as well as applying it to myself and my daughter helped calm the frustration and clunkiness of being a new, sleep deprived mom. Now more than ever Peace and Calming is needed because, like everyone else, life get complicated and managing stress with unhealthy vices just isn’t what I’m doing these days. Plus, that little 6 month old baby turned into a teenager who needs some peace and calming as well as her younger sister. Let’s just say, with perimenopause in tandem with teenage hormones, no one needs this blend more than my husband. LOL!

Benefits of Peace & Calming Essential Oil Blend:

Peace and Calming is one of my favorite diffuser blends. It has a bright, citrusy scent that is grounded by floral notes that come together to make quite the sweet aroma. Peace and Calming is said to help clear negative emotions as well as give you a deep sense of peace.

Peace and Calming can be inhaled, diffused or used topically. You can add a carrier oil with it like sweet almond oil or coconut oil and use it as a moisturizer. It is said to be especially powerful when made into an essential oil roll on blend and used on the wrists or the bottoms of the feet when stress is high or at bedtime to help calm hyper kids resisting sleep.

Is Making Your Own Peace and Calming Economical?

A 5 ml bottle of Young Living’s Peace and Calming is $36. To make the DIY version you will spend around $72 all together. However, You will get multiple bottles of Peace and Calming. Blue Tansy is the most expensive and it comes in a 2.5 ml bottle rather than a 10 ml. You will be able to make 7 bottles of Peace and Calming with a 2.5ml bottle of blue tansy. You will spend about $10 a bottle to make it yourself plus have loads of the other essential oils to make other DIYs or diffuse.

Is Peace and Calming Child Friendly?

The essential oils in peace and calming are considered suitable for young children but dilution is recommended. If you choose to use it on babies under a year old, I would use very little essential oil with a decent amount of carrier oil. The citrus oils in this blend could irritate baby skin. Would I put them on my daughters if they were under 6 mos. old? Yes and I did. In my earlier days of using essential oils I was reckless and a real rebel-I still kind of am but one drop of essential oil can be incredibly effective so dilute heavily and use your own intuition.

How to Diffuse Peace and Calming:

Diffusing is my favorite way to use essential oils and I believe it can be incredibly effective. Essential oil diffusers are easy to find and I’ve found a number of really great quality diffusers on Amazon that are very affordable.

To diffuse, fill your diffuser with distilled or filtered water to the indicated line. Add 5 drops of Peace and Calming and turn on. You can time it out where your diffuser intermittently diffuses on and off or you can turn the diffuser on a let it run until the water runs out. It’s totally up to you.

Please be aware if you have indoor cats. Citrus oils can be highly toxic to them and this blend could be a problem if you are diffusing in a small space with poor ventilation. I’ve written a post all about cats and essential oils if you want to find out the details.

How to Use Peace & Calming Essential Oil Blend:

  • Apply to the bottoms of the feet to calm your emotional state. This is especially helpful right before bed for a peaceful night’s rest.
  • Roll on pulse points for stress relief and to induce a peaceful feeling.
  • Use in an aromatherapy diffuser to create a calmer atmosphere.
  • Use with your favorite carrier oil as a massage oil or body oil.
  • Create a DIY linen spray and spray on pillows and sheets to encourage a restful sleep.
  • Add a few drops to dryer balls to freshen up laundry.

  • Make a yoga mat spray to induce feelings of wellness and keep yourself focused and in the moment.
  • Make a simple toner with witch hazel and 4 drops of Peace & Calming. Spray on skin after cleansing at bedtime. Each oil is great for the skin. However, avoid use during the day since this blend contains citrus oils which could cause you to be more sensitive to the sun
  • Add 5 drops of Peace and Calming and a cup of epsom salt to a hot bath for emotional balance at the end of a long day.
  • Add to an essential oil inhaler for immediate stress relief.

Where to Find the Best Essential Oils:

When using essential oils, high quality oils are a must. I typically get my essential oils from Plant Therapy. I love that they offer organic oils that are affordable. I wrote a full Plant Therapy review if you want more details. Plus they offer fast and free shipping. You can find some Plant Therapy oils on Amazon as well but I find the actual Plant Therapy website ships just as fast as Amazon and I like checking out the deals I find on their site.

If you’d like to skip making this essential oil blend but don’t want to buy Young Living’s Peace and Calming, Plant Therapy offers the same blend at a much better cost. Find it HERE.

During times of stress, Peace and Calming is especially helpful when added to your daily routine. Sometimes a peaceful mood can be hard to come by. The good news is this blend may help and is a natural way to show yourself some love. Life is hard and mental health can take a toll but a few drops of essential oil won’t hurt and may really help. Do yourself a favor and make my Peace and Calming recipe. If nothing else, you, your kids and your home will smell amazing! I’m happy to include it in my Young Living essential oil blend recipes.
