Christmas Spirit essential oil diffuser blend is a Young Living blend that smells exactly like what the holidays should smell like! With spicy hints of cinnamon, bright notes of orange and the grounding aroma of black spruce, this blend is my absolute favorite this time of year! Turns out, it’s one of the simplest essential oil recipes and in this post, I’ll share the recipe so that you too can make your home smell festive this holiday season! Not to mention this DIY Christmas Spirit blend recipe is economical to boot!
When I discovered essential oils 15 years ago I began my journey using Young Living. I signed up and was sold on YL. As time passed, My budget couldn’t keep up with my new obsession so I started researching other essential oil companies and set out to try to find a company that had the same quality YL does but at a lower price point. I can easily say I’ve found several comparable essential oil companies that I can vouch for. However, Young Living has some of the best essential oil blends. While many alternative companies have recreated these blends, I enjoy finding recipes and recreating them myself. With the holidays around the corner, I have recreated the fantastic YL blend, Christmas Spirit! It’s the perfect blend to diffuse all holiday season long!

What is Christmas Spirit Essential Oil Blend?
Christmas spirit blend consists of cinnamon bark, sweet orange and black spruce essential oil. This blend is the perfect holiday diffuser blend and beautifully embodies the scents of Christmas and evokes immediate holiday cheer! Many Christmas Spirit lovers have said it is the perfect essential oil diffuser recipe to diffuse on Christmas morning!
Christmas Spirit is mainly meant to be diffused and not recommended for topical use since it contains cinnamon bark which is a hot oil. Precaution should be taken if you have small children. It is meant to be diffused during the Christmas season and is a healthy alternative to burning candles.
Burning candles is a common way to make your home smell Christmas ready but candles often contain fragrances and waxes that can be harmful to your health. Diffusing essential oils is a much safer and better way to make your home smell festive for the holidays.
This blend of essential oils doesn’t just smell good. Diffusing essential oils actually have benefits for your mind, body and soul. Because of the essential oils used in this blend, it can promote a sense of calming and relaxation as well as supporting your respiratory health during the winter months! Diffusing is my favorite way to enjoy essential oils and I can attest that they have helped with calming my nerves and relieving the winter blues.
According to Young Living:
Christmas Spirit is a beautiful medley of three oils reminiscent of winter holidays: Orange essential oil has a bright aroma that is believed to bring joy, peace, and happiness to those who possess it. Cinnamon Bark essential oil is the oil of wealth from the Orient. Black Spruce essential oil has an aromatic influence that brings a feeling of balance and grounding.

Why Make Christmas Spirit Rather Than Buy The Blend?
It may be easier to buy the blend since it is available on Amazon. However, when you opt to make your own, you may be spending a little more money up front but you’ll be able to make 3 more bottles of the blend making it much more economical in the long run.
Each essential oil comes in a 10ml bottle which means they contain 200 drops of oil each. So with one Cinnamon essential oil you can make 3 5ml bottles. With 1 orange oil you can make 8 blends and with one black spruce oil you can make 13 bottles of this blend.
- Orange Oil-$9
- Cinnamon Bark-$16
- Black Spruce-$12
- 5 ml Bottle (10 Pack)-$9
Upfront you are spending $46 and getting at the very least 3 Christmas Spirit blends which comes to $15.33 each. To buy a 5 ml bottle of Young Living’s Christmas Spirit costs $17.37. Not to mention, there are many other uses for orange oil and black spruce! Orange oil is an awesome oil I use almost daily to remove sticky residue or get out stains on hard white surfaces. Black spruce can be used in a number of diffuser blends including the Volcano Capri candle essential oil blend (Anthropologie) which I’ll be posting soon.
The only reason to buy the blend pre-made is if you’re in a pinch and don’t want to take time to make your own. Making the blend yourself is a much better value and a lovely personal touch when given as Christmas gifts.

Where to Get Essential Oils:
When using essential oils, high quality, organic oils are a must. I typically get pure essential oils from Plant Therapy. I love that they offer organic oils that are affordable. Plus they offer fast and free shipping. You can use my code JENNIRAINCLOUD to get 10% off your order! You might be interested in my full Plant Therapy Review. They also have several certified in-house aromatherapist to analyze their essential oils to ensure consistent quality. I also like using Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils. They are also high quality and very affordable but their shipping is a bit slower. I believe Edens Garden is also a great (and affordable) essential oil company but I haven’t used enough of their oils or done research to really know.
I think a bottle of DIY Christmas Spirit would be a great hostess gift if you know your host diffuses. If not, making a room spray would be amazing as well. The trio of essential oils that come together in Christmas Spirit are such a great mix. Trust me when I say, you’ll love diffusing this blend over the holidays. I’m on my 3rd bottle and it’s not even Thanksgiving! It has become my absolute favorite holiday aroma!
xx, Jenni
