Valor is an essential oil blend from Young Living meant to bring balance and alignment to your emotions. It is grounding and inspires feelings of courage and confidence. Valor is a truly unique blend of black spruce, frankincense, blue tansy and rosewood. Valor can be applied topically, diffused and even used as a perfume or cologne! In this post I’m sharing a recipe for making your own Valor blend. This valor essential oil blend recipe takes minutes to make and I’ve included a recipe for a roll on for on the go use!
As an avid essential oil user, I diffuse daily. I enjoy simply diffusing lavender but also love to make my own blends. I began my essential oil journey at Young Living and loved many of their blends. Once I got further into my essential oil journey I moved on from YL due to the obligation to buy monthly, slow shipping times and the high cost of each oil. While many essential oil companies have duplicated YL’s famous blends, being the DIYer that I am, I like to make them myself. Plus, I am unfamiliar with Valor blend being available from other companies.

What is Valor Essential Oil Blend?
Valor is a lovely blend of essential oils meant to inspire confidence and can be helpful in aligining chakras. Black spruce, blue tansy, frankincense and rosewood are an aromatic blend that come together for a sweet herbaceous scent perfect for diffusing. Valor has been called “liquid courage” because it is said to give you courage and bravery when applied or inhaled. Valor is a very gentle blend of oils and can be applied to most sensitive skin. Many people believe in the power of this essential oil blend and love the scent so much that they wear it as a perfume or cologne. I will say, valor is a strong scent and lasts most of the day.
According to Young Living:
Originally formulated by Young Living Founder D. Gary Young, Valor blend is a long-standing member favorite. Its one-of-a-kind formula was inspired by historical writings about Roman soldiers who were said to apply plant extracts and botanicals to inspire courage and confidence before going into battle.
Each Young Living essential oil in the blend was carefully selected for its unique aromatic and topical benefits: Frankincense for its uplifting, earthy aroma and skin-loving properties; Black Spruce for its grounded, woodsy aroma; Blue Tansy for its inspiring aromatic profile; and now Rosewood for its soothing and relaxing aroma.

Cost Per Bottle Breakdown:
Valor retails for $58.55 on the Young Living website. On Amazon you can buy Valor for $64.41. I am basing this recipe off Plant Therapy’s prices. Each bottle of homemade Valor will cost you around $13.20. You will only be able to make 2 bottles of Valor if you buy the 2.5 ml bottle of blue tansy I have linked but you will have lots product left from the other ingredients for other projects.
A note on Rosewood Essential Oil: I happened to have a very old bottle of Rosewood from Spark Naturals. However, none of my essential oil companies of choice offer rosewood anymore. I believe it is difficult to source. At one point, Young Living could no longer find a viable source and changed from rosewood to geranium. I read that ho wood essential oil is a suitable substitution for rosewood. I did find a couple of cheap rosewood options on Amazon but I recommend going with a higher quality ho wood essential oil.
