Many of us could use the calming or energizing benefits of essential all day long and a DIY essential oil jewelry tutorial is just what is needed to make that happen!
DIY Essential Oil Jewelry

Essential oil jewelry is an easy way to enjoy the benefits of essential oils when you’re away from your diffuser!  You make essential oil jewelry with lava stones which are porous stones that can be made into beads.  They trap essential oils inside the bead so you can wear your scent all day!

I decided to try to make stylish jewelry that would also diffuse oils and I’m quite happy with how it turned out.  Sharing it now, during the holiday season might just give you an idea for DIY gifts for your loved ones!

Beading jewelry can be fun when you find the right beads.  Once you figure out what looks good, making a bracelet or necklace takes no time at all!  I found some of my beads on Amazon and others at my local craft store.

I chose THESE lava beads and opted for non treated wooden beads mixed with stained wooden beads.  I intermingled tiny glass beads in as well!  When I started to make these pieces it took me a while to find the right combo.  I wanted to make jewelry I would actually wear and that was not looking good but with some patience and a lot of re-doing, I found exactly what I knew I could wear!

I used THESE lava stone beads but I’m about to order THESE because they’re a bit larger and prettier.

I’m not going to give you a step by step guide on how to make DIY essential oil jewelry because I think it’s pretty self explanatory.  I think it’s up to you to find the right combo of beads that suit your personal style.

I used a heavier cord for my necklace and attached jewelry clasps but with one of my bracelets, I just wanted to use an elastic string so that I could easily put it on my wrist without messing with clasps.  Either way is pretty easy!

How to Apply Essential Oils to Your DIY Jewelry:

I applied 1 drop of essential oil per bead.  Be sure to lay your necklace on a safe surface and allow your beads to thoroughly soak up the oils before wearing since the oils can stain your clothes.  You might need to play around with how much oils suit your senses.  You don’t want to overpower!  I’ve even heard, for safety purposes to dilute oils in a carrier oil then apply to the necklace with a dropper.  I personally don’t think this is necessary but you do you.

I think this would be such a great gift for someone!  You could add your favorite essential oil along with the jewelry too!  I love the idea of formulating your own scent and including it with the jewelry too!  I’m thinking lemon, lavender and bergamot!
