DIY Bath Melts

Bath melts are an easy way to replenish the skin!  They are typically made of rich butters and once added to a hot bath, they melt, making the water full of oily goodness!  As a bonus, you can add essential oils for a relaxing aroma therapy experience!  These little melts are so easy to make so let’s do it and upgrade your bathing experience naturally!

These are easy to make and make my skin very soft!  Using lavender essential oil is so incredibly relaxing so these little melts are a win-win!

Bath melts make great gifts!!  Customizing them would add a special touch. If you wanted to get creative, you could add dried herbs and experiment with different combinations of essential oils!  I’m thinking of using hibiscus powder to color mine pink next time!  In order to ensure a quality gift, I recommend getting your herbs, oils and butters at Mountain Rose Herbs.  They have very high quality and ethically sourced ingredients.

Do warn whoever you give them to that the melts will make your body and bathtub oily so be careful when getting out of the tub!!

1/4 cup Shea Butter (find it HERE)

1/4 cup Cocoa Butter (find it HERE)

30 drops Essential Oils (optional) (find them HERE)

Directions:

  1. Fill a medium sized pot 1/2 way full with water.
  2. Place a glass pyrex bowl with a spout in the pot.
  3. Add the butters and melt.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Add essential oils if you are using them.
  6. Pour mixture into molds.
  7. Allow to cool. You can speed up this process by popping them in the fridge!
  8. Pop out of molds and store in a cool place!

My recipe made about 8 melts, my molds are smaller than ice cube trays so you be the judge on how much you want to make.

I bought molds from IKEA but you can also use ice trays.

P.S. Be careful when stepping out of the bath, you will be slippery!
