With my new website design, I’ve been making changes left and right around here! Basically my goal is to simplify the blog and make it easy to find what you’re looking for as well as easier to get the ingredients you need to make the best possible DIY product. So in this post, I hope you enjoy this Mountain Rose Herbs Essential Oils review.
When I first started blogging, I knew I wanted to find an essential oil company that had pure, unadulterated oils that were high quality. I had planned to go with Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils because of all I knew already about the company and their dedication to quality and ethical practices.
However, I discovered Spark Naturals and felt they were great quality and had a very promising affiliate program. Plus, a mentor blogger I really trust was all in with them and since I wanted to learn from her, I went with Spark Naturals. I want to be very clear-I have enjoyed Spark Naturals as a company and believe they have high quality oils. However, making this switch just feels timely and right.
I’m actually so excited to be using Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils. In preparing this post, I have found even more amazing things about this company and their products that make me so proud to use them in all my DIYs.
First of all, Mountain Rose Herbs is a Zero Waste Policy Certified company. As the company has gotten larger, their waste has gotten smaller-that’s crazy! Their commitment to recycling and adding next to nothing to landfills is impressive and inspiring. Read all about it HERE.

Certified Organic Essential Oils
When it comes to their essential oils, they are actually certified organic. Organic essential oils can be very hard to find. Many companies don’t use the word “organic” on their packaging but will claim that there is no such thing as organic essential oils. However, Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils are sourced from organic farmers.
This gives me so much peace of mind. No one wants to get into the practice of using essential oils with the possibility of them containing pesticides or having come from seeds that are genetically modified.
According to MRH:
“Our passion for organics is woven into every fiber and thread of Mountain Rose Herbs’ operations. We offer one of the most thorough selections of certified organic herbs, spices, and botanical products today. Contrary to other companies who will supply both an organic and conventional variety, organics remain our first and only choice regardless of price or profit.
For our customers and the natural environment, we promise to only source organic options and never stock conventionally grown products. When certified organic materials are not available, we opt for those cultivated without chemicals or synthetic inputs. Many of these are ethically harvested in the wild, thus liberating us from commercial farming dependencies.
All of our products are meticulously analyzed in our Quality Control lab. Organic and sustainable agriculture continues to be a guiding force in our purchasing department and in our personal commitment to People and Planet before Profit.”

Let’s Simplify the Ingredient List
As much as I adore their oils, butters, waxes and hydrosols it makes perfect sense for me to make the switch to their essential oils. I have always trusted their quality and commitment to the products as well as the consumer so I’m thrilled to simplify my DIY skin care ingredients list to 1 vendor that we can all trust.
MRH believes in transparency and their long list of impressive certifications speak to the quality you’re getting when you buy from them.
Many of you know I’m a big fan of transparency and have shared TMI at times so if you’re questioning my motives let me be honest and let you know that I have a relationship with MRH and have for years. I receive a small commission on each order that comes from this blog. As I have said in the past, I am very careful to only recommend products I 100% believe in.
I turn down so many companies wanting me to review their products because I feel it waters down this blog and for now, I have found a handful of companies and products that I believe in and feel that they are worth sharing. MRH is very close to my heart and love the peace of mind I feel when I write a recipe and recommend you use their products.
DIY Skin Care Recipes
Let’s face it, DIY skin care can be very ineffective and possibly detrimental to your skin if it’s not done properly and with high quality ingredients. I take it very seriously when I link products. If I’m linking to Amazon, it is usually because it’s not available at MRH or I’ve decided to do a recipe based on convenience and use only Amazon Prime (which is very rare).
Moving forward, all my recipes will contain Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils. As for the recipes I have already posted, feel free to use MRH essential oils in those as well or continue with Spark Naturals. Either way, you are using high quality essential oils.
“We offer the largest selection of 100% pure, certified organic, and high-quality essential oils from farm to bottle. Perfect for aromatherapy, skin and hair care products, natural cleaning formulas, soap making, DIY recipes, and so much more.”
Why Not Young Living?
Many of you wonder why I don’t use Young Living or DoTerra and it’s quite simple. I am not interested in getting involved in multi level marketing and feel that it is far to hard to purchase their oils at a reasonable price. Both companies offer some of the highest quality oils out there but I’m not interested in trying to make money in that way.
Mountain Rose Herbs is easy to order from and are extremely reasonable in pricing. I believe their quality is neck and neck with YL and DoTerra.
I recommend you try out some essential oils from Mountain Rose Herbs. They have a Classic Essential Oil Kit HERE for only $36. This kit contains all the usual oils I like to use in my recipes and would be a great way to try them out! Find their long list of essential oils HERE. I believe, you’re going to love them!
I hope my Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils review has been helpful to you and help clarify why I use these wonderful essential oils and why I highly recommend them to you.
xx, Jenni
P.S. Find Mountain Rose Herb’s full list of credentials HERE. It’s an insanely impressive list.
I do like Mountain Rose as well, in particular their hydrosols which I use in place of distilled water in your recipes. With all of their other products it makes for one stop shopping. I am out of so many carrier oils right now but hesitant to order with the summer heat shipping, I think I’ll call them to get input – any other input is welcome also!
Lanette-I know what you mean. I would be interested to hear what they say about the heat. I don’t think the heat would effect them much. I think heating at temps above 130 are where the issues happen. I think….
Glad to hear about the switch to Mointain Rose. I actually heard of them before Sparks. Finding Camp Wander and her affiliation with Sparks I stayed then she left and I went with her. Mountain Rose and Camp Wander are 2 great companies. Btw, love the new site. Always love how you are transparent with everyone.
Jo Ann-I totally trust Camp Wander so that’s where Spark came from but when she left, I was in too deep with the affiliation. I’m so glad to have made the switch. The more I learn about MRH and how they run their business, the more proud I am. I haven’t tried Camp Wander’s oils-I’m sure they’re great! Thank you for saying that-I always want to be an open, honest book!
