Shea Moisture Beauty Hacks Review

Do you find DIY skin care overwhelming and confusing?  Would you like to customize your skin care routine but would feel better knowing a well known skin care company is overseeing the process?  Shea Moisture has created their Beauty Hacks line just for these reasons!  With a variety of bases, accelerators and natural fragrances, you can make your own skin care using tried and true recipes or create your own recipes using loads of different combinations!  I love this concept, of course and am here to tell you all about it!

Shea Moisture is an organic beauty company that I have known and loved because of their amazing hair care products.  They use organic, natural ingredients and have banned many ingredients in their products.  They are mineral oil, paraben, sulfate, propylene, phthalate, DEA, formaldehyde, and petroleum free.  They practice fair trade, ethically source ingredients and of course are cruelty free!  Plus, you can find their products at Ulta and Target!

Beauty Hacks is a 3 step, 3 product program where you make your own skin care using a base, and activator and a natural scent.  Shea Moisture provides recipes or you can mix and match to make your own!  This concept is not new to us, but such a cool way to get started with DIY skin care!  The recipe cards are easy to read and even give you options for add ins from your kitchen like grapefruit juice, blueberries and honey!  There are 10 recipes to choose from or you can create your own which is what I did!

These products make it incredibly easy to customize your skin care to your skin’s needs. It also is a fresher way to care for your skin.  When you add ingredients as needed the product is much more effective!

My Turmeric Mud Masque

1 tbsp. Mud Masque Base (find it HERE)

1 tbsp. Aloe Vera Gel (find it HERE)

2 tsp. Turmeric Shot (find it HERE)

1 pump Vitamin E Oil (find it HERE)

3 drops Lavender Essential Oil (find it HERE)

These products range from $4-$12 each and Step 3 (fragrance) is optional.  You can buy them in 3 piece sets or individually.  I would personally skip step 3 and add my essential oils instead.  However, I must say, the rose fragrance is amazing and would be great in any combo.!

I think these different products and recipes would make such a fun gift!  Depending on whether your recipient is creative or not, you could give them a couple of options to make their own, or order a set that comes with an exact recipe.

My personal opinion about Shea Moisture’s Beauty Hacks is that I love the concept and think the individual products are so affordable!  For someone who isn’t really into DIY skin care or doesn’t have the time, this is a great way to go.  I love the quality of Shea Moisture’s products and their dedication to staying natural and ethical.  For the seasoned DIYer, it can be fun to order a few bases, natural fragrances and activators and make a number of different products.  You can make a 1 time use product or combine ingredients to make a product for multiple uses.

You can find recipe kits or buy each item individually HERE or HERE.
