Essential Oil Hack: Deodorizer Sticky Pads!

Sharing is caring!

Ever need to freshen up a space like the garbage can, your car or a closet? Who doesn’t?? This post is a quicky but boy is it a good one! Felt pads aren’t just for furniture legs-they make excellent deodorizers when a few drops of essential oils are added!

Freshen up any space that tends to get stale and stinky without the use of yucky air fresheners or toxic plug ins. This essential oil hack is a life saver and one trick you’re gonna wish you thought of sooner!

Perusing through Pinterest as I often do, I ran across this fun essential oil hack and immediately I knew I must share. I must give credit to One Essential Community because I did not come up with this-I sure wish I had!

Felt furniture pads are cheap and come in all sizes, I know because I have wood floors that scratch if I look at them cross eyed. Because they are felt, they soak in essential oils really well and can be stuck on anything for a fresh scent. These felt pads can go anywhere odors seem to be. I have teenage daughters so their closet and bathroom ought to be covered in pads-felt pads that is…

How To Make E.O. Deodorizer Pads:

Simply drop a few drops of essential oil on a pad depending on the pad size. Allow the essential oils to soak in, remove the paper and place wherever needed. It’s so simple yet effective!

The scent should last a week or more. When you don’t smell it anymore, you simply add more essential oils to the pad.

Find felt pads HERE.

For large pads I would use around 10 drops. Medium pads 5 drops and small pads 3 drops. Honestly, drop as much essential oils as you want-there’s no harm in it but maybe a little wasted essential oil.

Where to Put E.O. Deodorizer Pads:

  • Clothes Closets
  • Pantries
  • Cupboards
  • Linen Closets
  • Drawers
  • Shoe Bins and Boxes
  • Cars
  • Trash Cans
  • Recycle Bins
  • Laundry Hampers
  • Kitty Litter Boxes (w/ caution-learn about cats and essential oils first!)

Essential Oil Combination and Suggestions:

For a medium sized felt pad, I recommend 5 drops of essential oil. You can use just one essential oil or get creative with some combos. Below are a few of my favorites.

  • 3 drops lavender + 2 drops lemon
  • 3 drops lavender + 2 drops bergamot
  • 2 drops lemon + 2 drops orange + 1 drop tangerine
  • 3 drops lavender + 2 drops ylang ylang
  • 3 drops peppermint + 2 drops rosemary
  • 3 drops peppermint + 2 drops lemon
  • 3 drops grapefruit + 1 drop orange + 1 drop geranium
  • 3 drops grapefruit + 2 drops pine
  • 3 drops sweet orange + 1 drop rosemary + 1 drop clove
  • 3 drops lemon essential oil + 1 drop clove essential oil
  • 2 drop tea tree + 2 drop lemon + 1 drop orange
  • 1 drop lime + 1 drop sweet orange + 1 drop lemon + 2 drops spearmint
  • 3 drop lavender + 1 drop lemon + 1 drop rosemary
  • 2 drop lavender + 2 drop cypress + 1 drop tea tree

Get creative or keep it simple. This essential oil hack works no matter what combo or single oil you choose!

Where to Get the Best Essential Oils:

When using essential oils, high quality, organic oils are a must. I typically get my essential oils from Plant Therapy. I love that they offer organic oils that are affordable. Plus they offer fast and free shipping. You might be interested in my full Plant Therapy Review. They also have several certified in-house aromatherapist to analyze their essential oils to ensure consistent quality. They have a huge selection and their prices are much lower then YL! I also like getting essential oils from Mountain Rose Herbs. They tend to be expensive with shipping and ship slower though.

What do you think? Is this not genius? Do you have more essential oil hacks? Please share!!!
