Animal testing is heart breaking. I can barely research it without feeling sick. As we’ve discovered, the United States is notorious for unsafe ingredients in our skin care as well as cruelty towards animals all in the name of beauty and money. It’s time it stops. Animal testing is barbaric and heartless and should be outlawed. I’ve got great news on the U.S.’s progress in banning animal testing as well as a way you can use your voice to help the animals that need our voice.

Cruelty Free International leads the largest global campaign to end animal tests for cosmetics and other consumer products. As part of their worldwide campaign, they are calling on the United States to modernize cosmetics regulations to end cruel animal tests. They have teamed up with Neal’s Yard Remedies (you might recall my love for this company) to raise awareness to this issue.

Since 2012, Cruelty Free International has taken great strides to end animal testing.  After meeting with several congressional offices, the Humane Cosmetics Act was born. This bill would ban animal testing for cosmetics after a 1 year phase in and follow with a 3 year phase in period for a ban on the sale of any animal tested cosmetics. By 2016, Cruelty Free International delivers a letter to Congress signed by CEOs and top executives of six US cosmetic companies urging the bill’s passage.  Cruelty Free International continues to increase awareness and fight passionately for the ban of animal testing.  It’s our turn to help.

Everyday rabbits, mice, guinea pigs and hamsters are BLINDED, POISONED and KILLED in order to test cosmetics before releasing them to the public.  Yet, 73% of American voters are against the use of animals to test their cosmetic products. Awareness to this issue needs to happen.  Sign THIS petition to help pass the Humane Cosmetics Act.

What We Can Do:

1. We can increase awareness by posting a picture (or several!) to Instagram and/or Facebook with the hashtag: #crueltyfreewithNYR by November 30, 2016.  Also, tag the phot to @NYROrganic_US and you will be entered to win a English Lavender holiday gift box! On December 1st, they will select 4 winners. These winners’ pictures will be posted on the NYR Organic US Instagram and Facebook accounts and whichever post receives the most likes will receive the grand prize, a Beauty Sleep Gift Collection!

3. We must be an advocate of those who can not speak up on their own.  It’s one thing to load down beauty products with questionable ingredients but when that company deems it necessary to test their toxic products on defenseless animals, it’s unforgivable.  This is an easy way to use your voice for good!  Join me!!  Go take some pics of you and your animals whether they are furry, scaly or feathery!  I posted the above pics to Instagram in the hopes to spread the word.  We have the power-seize it!
