Author and blogger, Shannon Buck is a professionally trained herbalist who studied Aromatherapy and Essential Oils at Bastyr University. Her blog, Fresh Picked Beauty is a lot like Jenni Raincloud-brimming over with natural beauty tips and DIY skin care recipes. Shannon believes that you can make quality, organic products in your own kitchen that far surpass many of the beauty products on the market. Needless to say, Shannon and I have the same values and ideas when it comes to how to take care of skin.
I was thrilled when 200 Tips, Techniques & Recipes for Natural Beauty came to my door step-Let me tell you, it is full of easy to understand skin care recipes. She includes lots of information about herbs, infusing, carrier oils and essential oils as well. This book is truly a well rounded guide for anyone wanting to learn more about making their own skin care as well as keeping their beauty regime natural.
200 Tips, Techniques & Recipes for Natural Beauty offers a fresh approach to DIY skin care as well as different and new ideas and recipes! I was familiar with Shannon’s blog, Fresh Picked Beauty and had taken a lot of inspiration from her posts and recipes. I think her recipes are creative and off the beaten path. Her book does not disappoint. She stays true to keeping things clean, simple and natural and has a knack for making the process understandable and doable! I also like that her recipes are small. She does not use a preservative so making small batches is essential-not to mention, extremely fresh.
This book literally blows my mind. It is so full of useful info. I believe any beginner could get every ounce of information they needed to have a solid foundation about natural ingredients and recipes.
I would suggest this book to anyone interested in making their own skin care, learning more about herbs and essential oils, needing natural beauty tips or all of the above! This book is especially helpful with gift giving season coming up! There are tons of homemade gift ideas that your friends and family will love! The book itself is a great gift even if your loved ones aren’t into DIY skin care. This book will give a well outlined look into what it means to truly “go natural” in your beauty routine. Oh and did I mention Shannon is an Oklahoma girl living in Seattle? Yep-she’s living my dream!
I have a feeling I will be referencing this book often. It’s so nice to have all this useful info. in a book rather then scouring the internet for reliable answers!
