Are you ready for a recipe that you eat that’s going to give you beautiful skin?? Seriously, you are what you eat. The majority of skin issues come from issues occurring inside the body. Whether it be a diet high in processed food, unbalanced hormones or a food allergy-acne is usually fixable with diet. Well, that’s easier said then done but today, let’s make a smoothie that’s packed full of skin loving super foods. Oh, and it tastes AMAZING!!
Berries are one of the most beneficial fruits for the skin. They have such a high concentration of antioxidants which are vital when it comes to fighting premature aging. Your skin care and your food should be high in antioxidants.
Another tip when trying to achieve beautiful skin is to get your gut right. If you have gut issues you have a high chance that your skin will suffer. I added kefir (the kind that’s like a yogurt smoothie in the refrigerated section of the grocery store-Lifeway) to my smoothie but you could add yogurt as well. Yogurt or kefir has live active cultures which help balance the bacteria in your gut. Some type of probiotic, whether it be a supplement or some type of food needs to be in your diet daily. A balanced gut can make a big difference in your skin. Go HERE for more info. about probiotics. I take THESE probiotics daily.
Last week I talked all about Collagen Peptides. Taking a collagen supplement daily has incredible benefits for the skin. Adding collagen to your daily smoothie will give you enhanced collagen production, better digestion, more skin hydration, better bone and joint health, as well as hormone support. It’s a no-brainer since it is tasteless and so easy to add to a hot or cold liquid.
To add a twist I added Maca Root powder to my smoothie. Maca root boosts energy, is high in vitamin B12, helps to balance hormones (so often a cause of skin issues), and supports the adrenals.
Beautiful Skin Smoothie
1 cup mixed berries (I used frozen)
1/2 cup yogurt or kefir (make sure it has active LIVE cultures!)
1 banana
2 tsp. Maca Root Powder (find it HERE)
2 scoops of Collagen Peptides (find them HERE)
2 liberal shakes of cinnamon (to taste)
**Mix well. If you don’t add water, you will have a very creamy/thick consistency which I like but it can be hard to blend. Add small amounts of filtered water if needed.
Top with blueberries and ENJOY!!
You are going to love this smoothie. I suggest making it daily and see how your skin responds. You could easily add a handful of spinach for a boost of dark greens (iron). I promise you won’t taste it and it’s an easy way to get extra veggies in-which is always a good idea.
Do you have any smoothie recommendations that help achieve beautiful skin?? I’d love to hear them! Comment below!
xx, Jenni
Hi Jenni! This sounds great. I blend the collagen and sometimes maca into my coffee in the morning, along with some coconut oil and liquid stevia. Some days it’s maca, some days it’s raw cacao powder, some days it’s a bit of turmeric (pretty strong taste but amazing for you!) Usually I’ll make my smoothie extremely green (kale or arugula, fresh ginger and a whole lemon or lime) Then I might throw in something extra, like a bit of spirulina or some matcha. But the collagen is something I have used consistently for years now and have noticed a huge difference. Also wanted to let you know that on the “favorite things” page of my blog I have a link to your website, since you have such great DIYs. Thanks for all your great info!
Elizabeth! I tried the collagen in my coffee yesterday and it worked out really well. Even less taste then in my smoothie! I gotta explore matcha more-do you have a certain brand you trust? Thanks for linking my blog!
Hi…, sometimes I eat banana and other fruits like Apple, Sweet potato, etc. But this process is not continuing due to busy life. So I am using some products from an online store named as “Annimateo”. After using All-in-One Anti-aging/Wrinkle/Lifting Cream products. My skin is looking better than before.
