Dark spots can be a real pain and getting rid of them can feel close to impossible. Whether it’s from acne scarring, hormonal fluctuations or sun damage, fading dark spots is on most of our priority lists when it comes to skin care. I believe that removing dark spots is possible and it can be done safely so today I’ve rounded up several of the most effective natural dark spot remedies that won’t break your budget or compromise your natural skin care values.
Natural Dark Spot Remedies:
100 Percent Pure Dark Spot Remover-I am currently using this product and have been for a week. I trust 100% Pure and after reading the reviews for this product, I bought it immediately.
Eminence Bright Skin Licorice Root Booster Serum-This serum comes highly recommended from several beauty bloggers (that aren’t natural, I might add) that rave about how quickly this serum gets rid of pregnancy mask as well as sun spots. I love Eminence and feel that if you are looking for a high powered anti aging skin care routine, Eminence is the way to go. You can find this serum on Amazon Prime too!
Oz Naturals Glycolic Peel 30%-Exfoliating the skin can go a long way. While glycolic acid itself will not fade dark spots, removing the upper layer of dead skin can actually remove them over time. So often fine lines and spots can be greatly reduced if not removed by a thorough exfoliation. There are different strengths of glycolic acid. To give you a point of reference, when I was working as an aesthetician I had a 10% glycolic, 20% glycolic and a 30%. I only used the 30% if the client was aware of the repercussions. Those included burning and uncomfortableness as well as peeling 2-3 days after application. Be extremely careful if this is the method you choose. Follow Oz Naturals directions exactly and proceed at your own risk if you have sensitive skin. I recommend reading the reviews on Amazon.
Frankincense Essential Oil-Frankincense has been known to fade dark spots over time. Frankincense is very gentle and can actually be applied straight to the skin. Not only can it fade dark spots, it also has the ability to get rid of moles and skin tags.
Vitamin C is another well known remedy that is used to brighten skin as well as fade dark spots. There are many options when looking for a product with L-Ascorbic Acid but my favorite is MyChelle’s 17% Perfect C Serum. It’s another product that has loads of rave reviews and will quickly brighten your skin as well as smooth and clear. 100% Pure also has a Vitamin C serum that I have tried but I didn’t use it consistently to see the results. Find it HERE.
Prevention:
Of course I need to state the obvious-if your dark spots are due to sun damage, a daily SPF of 30 or more is an absolute must. Large brimmed hats are also a great idea. Much of the sun damage that starts to appear in our 30’s is due to the damage we incurred while younger. While the sun can be extremely beneficial to our health, protecting the skin (especially the face) will go a long way with preserving youthfulness. If you are looking for a safe sun care line, I love MyChelle Dermaceuticals as well as Coola.
Everyone’s skin is different and I personally have not experienced sun spots that bother me enough to be consistent with anything. I want to put that out there so you’ll know that these product suggestions for fading spots are from my research, talking to others and relying on testimonies of others. However, I am committed to the Dark Spot Remover and I will report back once I finish my bottle.
I know very little about dark spot removal via a plastic surgeon. I would love to hear if you’ve resorted to laser or other professional remedies. Please share in the comments below!!!
