I’ve been a fan of Dr. Mercola’s for a while. If you aren’t familiar and enjoy hearing from a not so typical doctor who questions and challenges the medical industry you should check him out. I’ve run to his site many times for advice on fevers, dental procedures, female issues, exercise, skin care etc. Here is a link to his site, you can sign up for a daily email which are usually very eye opening and interesting…..
Lately Dr. Mercola has been talking about “grounding” or “earthing”. I had no clue what that was but was intrigued to learn. Grounding is when you walk barefoot on the earth and free electrons from the earth transfer into your body via the soles of your feet. These free electrons are some of the most potent antioxidants known to man. This was a foreign concept to me since we live in scorpion town and I got stung by something 2 summers ago while walking barefoot. The pain was unbelievable and my toe swelled up like a balloon. Connecting to the earth did speak to me-I know that being outside recharges me and now it makes sense that that isn’t 100% emotional.
Being in the skin care business I know antioxidants are a really good thing so this certainly appealed to me. Antioxidants fight free radicals. Free radicals can cause all sorts of damage, including aging. Other benefits of grounding include decreased inflammation, beneficial changes in heart rate, reduction of pain, better sleep, and thinner blood. All these benefits still won’t get me out in my yard barefoot, so I have a grounding pad that I sleep on. It has the same benefits of walking barefoot.
Once again we are finding that all the technological advances and conveniences of our time are actually going against our God made bodies. We might be comfortable staying inside eating processed food, wearing rubber soled shoes with our electronic devices glued to our fingers but we are paying the price. So get your cave man on and go barefoot today, or just buy the pad like I did, HA!
I am just barely grazing the subject of grounding. If you want to know more, HERE is the link to the article. It’s a good read.
