I don’t know about you but for me, cellulite is a problem! I notice it mainly on the front and back of my legs making it really tricky to wear shorts! The light has to be dim for me to venture into that world, I’m talking candle light!
Over the years, I’ve found that no matter what size or age someone is, cellulite can be an issue. Ridding your legs of cellulite starts with your lifestyle but a DIY cellulite oil can go a long way with reducing the appearance of cellulite!
I have been reading on essential oils and cellulite for a while now. I’ve been gathering info. to come up with just the right concoction to hopefully reduce the appearance of cellulite while nourishing and detoxing. I have found an awesome combination that smells amazing and goes on so smooth for the perfect cellulite body oil!
I have only been using this cellulite oil for a week but I am already seeing smoother skin. I wanted to share it with you now because it’s such an easy recipe that you really don’t have much to lose by making it.
At the absolute least, you will see much improvement in the texture of your skin and increased moisture which we could all use! I’m hoping by daily use, we will see cellulite melt away!!
What is Cellulite?
First let’s start by talking about what the heck cellulite actually is.
Cellulite is fat under the surface of the skin that pushes up on the connective tissue giving your skin a lumpy appearance. I believe toxin build up contributes to cellulite. Cellulite is not limited to people that are overweight. It happens to almost every woman and some men. Cellulite is caused by a poor diet, dehydration, water retention, poor circulation and even genetics.
A few things you can do to help lessen cellulite:
- Drink LOTS of water.
- Eat a clean diet-ditch the processed foods and sugar!
- Massage your skin-this increases circulation and blood flow and encourages detox.
- Dry Brush
- Exercise for fat loss, more circulation and blood flow.
- Moisturize-for a smoother appearance.
- Take a collagen supplement.
I have combined several oils for maximum benefits and detox. If you don’t have an oil you can omit it all though I would strongly suggest you eventually add it in when you get it. Each of these oils are so incredibly beneficial to the skin and will help break down cellulite.
Rosemary essential oil is also really good but it smells AWFUL when mixed with the four I chose!
DIY Anti Cellulite Body Oil Recipe
- 1/4 cup Jojoba Oil (HERE) or Sweet Almond Oil (find it HERE)
- 1/4 cup Rosehip Seed Oil (find it HERE)
- 15 drops of Juniper Berry Essential Oil (find it HERE)
- 30 drops of Grapefruit Essential Oil (find it HERE)
- 10 drops Lemon Essential Oil (find it HERE)
- 5 drops Geranium Essential Oil (find it HERE)
- 2 tsp. Vitamin E Oil (find it HERE)
I store my body oil in a 4 ounce dark glass bottle with a pump. I apply the oil daily usually right after my shower. I use one pump per leg and massage in an upward motion for at least a couple of minutes. 10 is optimal but with 2 little girls bouncing off the walls, usually 10 is pushing it!

Be sure to drink water after massaging to get the toxins coming out the right way!
Also, a DIY coffee body scrub can really help the appearance of cellulite as well. And, if you prefer a body cream, I’ve got a recipe for DIY cellulite cream!

was told by a friend that if you throw sliced lemons or limes into your bath water, it will eliminate cellulite….you can feel it pulling toxins….this girl has no cellulite whatsoever! in her mid 40’s!! she told me it is an old German remedy…….now if I could just force myself to bath instead of shower……….who has the time
Beth!!! Thanks for sharing this! I’ve never heard of it! I will have to try as well! Keep me posted on your results!
So trying this!!
I have been searching for something like this for the past two weeks, so thank you. I recently noticed (under the horrid overhead lighting at the gym) how much cellulite is now noticeable on the front of my thighs. Ugh. I’ve added more lemon water to my day, more massage, and dry brushing. Looking forward to trying this as well.
Jacki-I’m right there with you! SO much cellulite on the front of my legs, that’s why I came up with this oil! Keep me posted with the results!!!
Gelatin is a great natural remedy for cellulite because it is a natural source of dietary collagen. All those anti-aging and anti-cellulite creams that boast having collagen as one of their ingredients are a big crock of halooey because the collagen molecule is too big to absorbed through the skin. The only way to actually absorb it is internally. So make lots of natural gelatin snacks and desserts or just mix it into smoothies and enjoy watching your cellulite disappear!
Emma-that’s awesome-I’ve heard that about eating gelatin but have not incorporated it in my diet yet-You’ve inspired me! Thanks so much for sharing!!
So is it working for you the gelatin eating staff?
I too have added gelatin to my diet, and have noticed improvements in my hair, skin and nails. I have never had much cellulite, but I can honestly say that my skin is firmer all over since I have been using gelatin.

I really like the natural oils for my body instead of the various cosmetics. Oils can rejuvenate the skin in a btter manner and do not lets the skin loose its natural beauty. So this post and the listed product is a big yes for me. Seems reliable too.
Hey Jenni , I was jus wondering about the quality of essential oils from Mountain Rose Herbs?? Does it work well?
Daisy-I wish I knew-I’ve been trying to find out the quality of MRH for a while now because they are very affordable! I have not found any sufficient info. yet. I will keep you posted if I do. I do have a couple of their oils and I do like them fyi.
I have been purchasing LOTS of products from MRH’s for years. They pride themselves on top quality products. They test for purity, quality, etc.
They are super nice people. Call and ask them any questions you like. They will be happy to answer.
Shipping can be a little steep, but I always buy in bulk and it’s calculated by $ spent.
In the update you mention meadow foam seed oil but I don’t see that listed in the recipe. Did you replace that ingredient with something else or should it be added in addition? If so how much should be used? Thank you for this wonderful website. I love all your articles and awesome recipes.
Karyn-I copied and pasted that info. for all recipes that involved meadowfoam or rosehip. There was never meadowfoam in this recipe-I was just saving time! Sorry for the confusion!!
Hey jenni…. Have u received results yet? Or In fact anyone else tried this out and got results? If so how long did it take for you to see them?
Jane-Honestly, I have not used this everyday so I haven’t noticed cellulite reduction-My skin is definitely smoother and that was immediate. These oils are known to rev up circulation and I created this recipe based on other people’s testimonials when using these particular oils. I’m very inconsistent with body care but now that summer is fast approaching maybe I’ll get it together and use it daily!
Any more updates on how this has been working for anyone who has tried it???
Just found this recipe. Thank you! Thank you! I have a vacation coming up {to Mexico} and I really needed this! 😀
You are welcome!

All you have to do to get rid of cellulite is jump on trampoline everyday. Cellulite is stored lymphatic fluid.
Stephanie-I wonder how long you have to jump each day?
Honestly, I did the trampoline for a year or more for exercise 4x per week and all I got was much needed stamina. Nothing for cellulite. Just so you know. I’d much rather put my stock in your recipes!
Denise-Good to know. I have found my cellulite seems less visible the less sugar I eat. I’ve also heard of “fascia blasters”. Some kind of tool that massages the legs and helps release blocked or tight fascia. Who knows-I think sometimes you can do all the right things and it just comes down to genetics!
