Apple cider vinegar contains beta-carotene, which according to the Mayo Clinic possesses antioxidant properties that counteract damage caused by free radicals and that boost your immune system.

  1. Hi Jenni, I think you meant to say it is a bit of an acquired taste, not required. Looking forward to trying this as I have heard alot about the benefits of ACV.
Thanks for the recipe. I love the information you provide on essential oils and their benefits and have started making my own serums.

      1. I was worried about the vinegar destroying the maca. I can’t seem to find any information on it, but I was hoping you could share your experience with me. Have you found that the vinegar alters or interferes with the effects of the maca? Thanks.

        1. Rachel-I’ve never noticed that maca did much for me that I could notice. It just has so many benefits that I always like to add it to my diet. I have never thought about the vinegar interfering with it and in my logic, I wouldn’t think it would but I could be wrong!

          1. Thanks for the response! I looked into it a bit more last night. I discovered that vinegar has similar pH to stomach acid, so it should not interfere with nutrient absorption (at least for water-soluble compounds like maca). I’m just not well-versed enough in biology or nutrition to understand some of the processes that take place in the body, thus my concern.

  2. Just wondering if the ACV is ok for the teeth? I used to drink it every day mixed with watered down pure cranberry juice. It truly is addicting after awhile but I stopped because I thought it may hurt the enamel?
    Any thoughts?

    1. Bonnie-I wouldn’t-lemongrass and lemon are very different. I think lemongrass would taste really gross-It’s not one I would want to ingest. Lemon essential oil literally tastes like a lemon. What you could do is just use fresh lemon. That would be even better because you would be getting vitamin C in your drink as well!
