Make your own tinted lip balm!

I am super picky with lipstick.  I have so many lipsticks that are too dark that just get shoved in my makeup drawer.  I decided to try adding color to my lip balm recipe by putting my lip stick in the mix and it worked!  The color was subtle but it gave a good shine and a hint of pink that helped brighten me up a bit.  It also dilutes the chemicals in lipstick.  Of course the best thing would be to ditch the lipstick all together but sometimes it's better to reuse then waste! I used Rosemary … [Read more...]

Fit Bit One reviews…..

Everyone who knows me knows I LOVE tracking.  Whether that's calories or my steps, it works for me.  There is something very visually satisfying to see what I'm eating and the steps I'm taking.   I decided to monitor my activity during the day and bought a FITBIT ONE.  The Fitbit is like a pedometer on steroids!  Seriously..... The Fitbit One is small.  I clip it inside my bra (I have room in there after my second baby-sad face). It is so comfortable that I can even sleep with it, and I sleep … [Read more...]

DIY Diaper Rash Cream

In our family I've doctored my fair share of diaper rash.  My girls get it anytime a new tooth arrives, or anytime a diaper has been kept on too long and is too wet.  It's so hard to see them in pain and the thought of putting any old diaper rash cream on raw skin is even more painful. The most common diaper rash cream on the market is Desitin.  So, is Desitin safe?  The Skin Deep cosmetic safety database gives Desitin – Original Formula a score of 5 out of 10.  Desitin Creamy, another … [Read more...]

Peak 8 fitness…..

Exercise.....I have a love hate relationship with it.  I've maintained my weight since I was around 16 by doing some sort of cardio for 30 minutes 3x a week.  If I stopped my routine, it didn't take long for me to gain that 10lbs I had been keeping at bay.  When I had my first baby I continued my routine at home after buying a treadmill.  After I finished breast feeding I quickly gained the dreaded 10lbs even with my 30 minutes of brisk walking 3x a week.  So, I started counting calories.  It … [Read more...]

DIY Organic Toner Recipe-with Apple Cider Vinegar

Today we should make a toner! Toner's are super easy to make and can really give your skin a boost!  A toner is a very important part of your skin care regimen.  Toners help your skin retain moisture.  They maintain and/or restore pH balance.  They can remove any dirt left behind after cleansing and toners can also tighten pores!  This recipe is for all skin types but is especially helpful for oily/acneic skin types.  For dry/mature skin, a more appropriate toner can be found HERE. Apple … [Read more...]
