Homemade Neosporin Recipe….

Today is a good day to make Homemade Neosporin!!  I don't know about your kids, but my kids have boo boos constantly!  I'm not even sure how they get half of them (they probably get them while I'm working on this blog!).  As usual, an old staple everyone has always used has harmful ingredients.  The main thing with Neosporin is that it is petroleum based.  I decided to come up with an all organic salve that would replace our worn out and toxic Neosporin.  This salve is great for cuts and … [Read more...]

Homemade Organic Baby Wash

I am always so annoyed at buying high dollar shampoo/body wash for the girls.  All they want is Mr. Bubble and that smell I love, but I know too much now!  The huge list of ingredients to anything at a decent price is scary.  Plus I did some research on "tear free" claims-Oh my.  The chemical added to make a shampoo "tear free" actually anesthetizes the eye so that the sting of the shampoo is not felt!  This chemical can temporarily numb the eye or worse.  The chemical is used in pesticide … [Read more...]

EASY DIY Exfoliating Sugar Scrub!

Exfoliating is one of the best things you can do for your skin.  As we age our skin does not slough off dead skin cells as efficiently as it once did.  Being an Aesthetician I am no stranger to glycolic peels, microdermabrasion and laser treatments.  In fact, I've had my fair share of professional exfoliation on my own skin.  The results were great as long as I didn't over do it, but the amount of chemicals I let seep deep into my pores was crazy!  Originally I made a scrub using raw organic … [Read more...]

Sophia’s Sweet Spot.

I discovered Sophia's Sweet Spot on Flickr years ago.  I fell in love with her art.  I know little about her.  She has a blog but has not made an entry for a couple of years.  She also has an Etsy shop but it is empty!  I know she has 3 daughter's and loves to paint.  She's definitely inspired by retro images!  She has many other paintings that you can find on her blog-sophiassweetspot/blogspot.com.  I sure hope this wonderful artists starts painting again soon! … [Read more...]

Lulu Kati Kati house…..An Urban Treehouse.

The Lulu Kati Kati house is located in Johannesburg, South Africa. The architect and homeowner is Kate Otten.  Lulu Kati Kati is Swahili for Pearl in the Middle.  The home is built into a cliff amongst large trees which are the home to many exotic birds. On one side of the home is a nature preserve and on the opposite is a busy street which gives the home a dual personality!   Eucalyptus tree trucks support the sides, weighing half a ton each and are 31 feet in length!  The house has three … [Read more...]

Seattle dreaming….. On such a sunny day.

Frank Lloyd Wright is my absolute favorite architect.  I find his Tracy house one of the most intriguing and not just because it's in Seattle!  The Tracy home overlooks Puget Sound.  It is made entirely of exposed concrete blocks. It was built in 1955 for Bill and Elizabeth Tracy. It's a single story home that has 1150 square feet.  Wright gave particular attention to the sun, views and privacy when positioning a house.  Wright's signature red tile is located on the front porch. There are 1700 … [Read more...]
