Homemade Body Splash!

DIY Body Splash

Gone are the days of toxic perfume for me.  After researching for THIS post, ignorance is no longer bliss.  Turns out, perfume products are the absolute worst offender when it comes to toxic beauty products!  I LOVE perfume so much and I probably seriously need it since ditching store bought deodorant after THIS post-ha!!  I have found an amazing perfume that is non-toxic-read about that HERE but I think a body splash would be something we could all use and love. Plus, this recipe is so easy, it’s actually healthy for your skin and you’ll smell amazing!

To make a body splash all you need is Witch Hazel (vodka will work too), and essential oils!  I love using hydrosols for the base of my body splash.  You can read more about them HERE.  They give you a boost of scent as well as therapeutic benefits.  I almost always use Lavender but you could use rose, lemon or cucumber!  I didn’t add aloe vera gel in this recipe, but if you need extra healing and hydration, you can always add a couple tablespoons!  So, let’s get started!

My suggestions for essential oils in your body splash are always Lavender mixed with something warm.  Sandalwood is one of my favorites.  I love adding Lemon essential oil as well.  Peppermint and Rosemary are nice and refreshing together.  I also love Bergamot.  Bergamot pairs well with lavender or lemon.  If you want something light and fresh, citrus oils are great-grapefruit, lemon and wild orange will give you a burst of energy!  Get creative-add more drops of the scent you love the most and then tailor the rest to your preference.

Here are some of my suggestions….

15 drops Lavender, 10 drops Sandalwood, 5 drops Lemon
20 drops Lavender, 10 drops Peppermint
20 drops Bergamot, 10 drops Lemon
20 drops Lavender, 10 drops Bergamot
10 drops Grapefruit, 10 drops Lemon, 10 drops Sweet Orange
20 drops Rosemary, 10 drops Sweet Orange
10 drops Peppermint, 10 drops Rosemary

Get creative!   Remember to always shake your body splash before using.  Spray this after a shower and enjoy the aromatherapy as well as the moisture.  Your skin will drink it up!

xx, Jenni

  2. Thanks Heather! I’m so glad you like my blog and are making diy skin care! It’s so fun and rewarding! Have a great day!

  3. Is the bottle in the picture plastic or glass?

  4. Which EOs make a sweet smell like candy?

  5. Going to try this right now! Hope it turns out. Want to use it as a Christmas gift. 🙂

  6. I have a question. I heard the witch hazel smells odd. How can this be used as a scent then?

  7. Theresa Aberilla says:

Essential Oils are very “potent” engridients, and should be used with utmost knowledge and care!

For a half cup of hydrosol, I would “never” put 20 drops of essential oils!

    It wud burn the skin!

  8. Thanks for the good idea! Do you have any suggestions to copy their stress relief scent? I’m assuming Eucalyptus and spearmint but I feel like there’s another little something in that that sets it apart. Thanks for any tips!

    • Lacey-Hi! I don’t know what that smells like-I tried to look up the ingredients but I think they have discontinued it. I’m no help on this one but eucalyptus and spearmint would really make a nice smelling DIY! Lavender might be a good addition too.
