DIY Cheek and Brow Highlighter….

A highlighter is used to bring out certain aspects of the face such as the brow bones and the cheek bones.  It can be used in several places-along the cheek bones, below the eye brows, above the upper lip, down the bridge of the nose and on the along the inner corner of the eyes.  A highlighter can take you from dull to radiant is seconds.  It's my go-to when doing even the simplest make up looks. There are several very popular highlighters on the market but the problem is, they are full of … [Read more...]

DIY Cream Blush and Lip Tint

When I think of what blush should look like on your cheeks I go back to Scarlett O'Hara from Gone With The Wind.  I remember her pinching her cheeks so she would have that natural flushed look.  I had a lot of Fiddle Dee Dee moments with this blush but I finally found the right ratio of ingredients to give you that Scarlett O. look!  So, see you later Rhett, we don't care if you don't give a damn, we're making blush! This recipe is very similar to a lip balm recipe.  I ordered mica powder the … [Read more...]

Dry Skin Moisturizer with Shea Butter

I've been making face cream for my mother for a while now, but my "experiments" are never moisturizing enough for her skin.  She gets dry patches on her cheeks and getting a cream that addresses that issue has not been easy.  I have made over 10 different formulations trying to get something that works for her!  I finally did it-I found a concoction that is nourishing and thick enough but not greasy!  With winter coming, we all get a little drier.  With heaters in our homes and cars skin is … [Read more...]

DIY Pumpkin Pie Lip Balm!

Today it's cloudy..... It hasn't been cloudy in over a month, much less rained.  It's mid September and we are still in the 90's, so anything that resembles the coziness of fall inspires me!  I decided to experiment with lip balms today!  I ventured outside my usual essential oil route and "infused" my oils instead!  This turned out to be really simple using tea bags!  I used grapeseed oil as my base because it is odorless.  I found my Pumpkin Spice tea at target. Pumpkin Pie Lip Balm 1/4 cup … [Read more...]

Overnight Melaleuca Zit Zapper Salve!

I hope everyone loves salves as much as I do!  I feel like I live in an apothecary!  It's so fun!  So in honor of my hormonal break out on my face, I thought it would be smart to make a salve for blemished skin.  Being a facialist, I have given and taken my fair share of "acne treatments".  Usually this simply means burning your skin off with a chemical.  While exfoliation is wonderful for your skin, making your skin smooth and encouraging cell renewal, it can also be harsh for acne sufferers.  … [Read more...]
