Team Edward Lip Stain……..Plus A SECRET Lip Plumping Bonus!

Another rainy day on the edge of fall weather and I am indulging in a Twilight marathon and making lip balms!  I LOVE Twilight, as I have mentioned before so why not dedicate a lip balm recipe to one of the loveliest vampires Hollywood has to offer!  As an added bonus, I've added a SECRET ingredients which will plump up those lips!  I say the bigger the better when it comes to lips! There are lots of "lip plumpers" on the market right now that boast of a magical concoction making your lips … [Read more...]

Dry Skin Moisturizer with Shea Butter

I've been making face cream for my mother for a while now, but my "experiments" are never moisturizing enough for her skin.  She gets dry patches on her cheeks and getting a cream that addresses that issue has not been easy.  I have made over 10 different formulations trying to get something that works for her!  I finally did it-I found a concoction that is nourishing and thick enough but not greasy!  With winter coming, we all get a little drier.  With heaters in our homes and cars skin is … [Read more...]

DIY Pumpkin Pie Lip Balm!

Today it's cloudy..... It hasn't been cloudy in over a month, much less rained.  It's mid September and we are still in the 90's, so anything that resembles the coziness of fall inspires me!  I decided to experiment with lip balms today!  I ventured outside my usual essential oil route and "infused" my oils instead!  This turned out to be really simple using tea bags!  I used grapeseed oil as my base because it is odorless.  I found my Pumpkin Spice tea at target. Pumpkin Pie Lip Balm 1/4 cup … [Read more...]

Overnight Melaleuca Zit Zapper Salve!

I hope everyone loves salves as much as I do!  I feel like I live in an apothecary!  It's so fun!  So in honor of my hormonal break out on my face, I thought it would be smart to make a salve for blemished skin.  Being a facialist, I have given and taken my fair share of "acne treatments".  Usually this simply means burning your skin off with a chemical.  While exfoliation is wonderful for your skin, making your skin smooth and encouraging cell renewal, it can also be harsh for acne sufferers.  … [Read more...]

Olive Oil and Lavender Cleanser and Face Cream….

Olive Oil is one of my favorite oils to use in my homemade moisturizers and cleansers.  It is so healthy for the skin and hair!  It is packed full of antioxidants and vitamins.  Vitamin A is a healing and rebuilding vitamin found in olive oil.  It helps your cells to repair and renew.  It is awesome for preventing the signs of aging.  Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps fight free radicals.  It is one of many antioxidants that olive oil contains.  One of the most potent antioxidant in olive … [Read more...]

Make your own tinted lip balm!

I am super picky with lipstick.  I have so many lipsticks that are too dark that just get shoved in my makeup drawer.  I decided to try adding color to my lip balm recipe by putting my lip stick in the mix and it worked!  The color was subtle but it gave a good shine and a hint of pink that helped brighten me up a bit.  It also dilutes the chemicals in lipstick.  Of course the best thing would be to ditch the lipstick all together but sometimes it's better to reuse then waste! I used Rosemary … [Read more...]
