Homemade Peppermint Eucalyptus Vapor Rub…..

As most of you know, I am on a mission to rid my house of toxins.  This journey of mine began when I started getting very leery of the skin care industry.  I have been an Aesthetician for over 10 years and have been using and selling professional lines of skin care until about four years ago.  I realized that even if a product is found in a high end salon or claims to be "natural" it most likely couldn't be further from actually being good for your skin.  The laundry list of harmful ingredients … [Read more...]

Jonathan Adler’s Shelter Island Home…….Happy Chic!

I love this designer.  His quirky style paired with a chic sense of HIP makes his style full of whimsy and soul!  I wanted to share some of his decor in his Shelter Island home. It blew my mind when his last book came out that features this home.  It's borderline kitsch but in the best way possible!  I especially love his unique way of making vintage look current and classy.  Enjoy this fabulous and inspiring interior!   Turn on your JavaScript to view content … [Read more...]

DIY Dry Skin Roll On

So I am a salve making fool right now.  Seriously.....  I've made like 10 in the past few days!  The possibilities are endless!  I decided to make one I could put in a roll on (deodorant) container so I could roll it on my heals, knees, elbows and mainly on the backs of my hands while working at the computer!  It works like a charm and was a cinch to create!  This would be great to take to work and use since rubbing in lotion tends to make a mess on your computer keyboard!  I used Olive Oil as … [Read more...]

Luxurious Bath Melts!

Bath melts are little molds of shea butter and/or cocoa butter with essential oils added in that you can drop in your bath for extra hydration and aromatherapy!  I decided to try my hand at making some and they turned out great!  I bought these molds from IKEA but you can also use ice trays. Take some time to pamper yourself!  These were easy to make and made my skin very soft!  My recipe made about 8 melts, my molds are smaller than ice cube trays so you be the judge on how much you want to … [Read more...]

Olive Oil and Lavender Cleanser and Face Cream….

Olive Oil is one of my favorite oils to use in my homemade moisturizers and cleansers.  It is so healthy for the skin and hair!  It is packed full of antioxidants and vitamins.  Vitamin A is a healing and rebuilding vitamin found in olive oil.  It helps your cells to repair and renew.  It is awesome for preventing the signs of aging.  Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps fight free radicals.  It is one of many antioxidants that olive oil contains.  One of the most potent antioxidant in olive … [Read more...]
